There are three main fund-raising events held during the year:
The Asado – The asado (or barbecue) is the main event of the year. It is generally held on the Sunday closest to the 18th July, Uruguay’s national day. It takes place in gardens kindly offered by members who live within travelling distance of London and is very well attended.
The Catherington Concert – This concert takes place in spring, in the wonderful gardens of Stephen and Julia Harwood’s home in Catherington, near Petersfield. The concert generally features excellent young soloists from the Royal College of Music.
The Christmas Party and AGM – The Christmas Party is usually held at Canning House and provides an opportunity for members to socialise and enjoy excellent food and wine. It is preceded by the Society’s Annual General Meeting.
Se llevan a cabo tres eventos anuales con el fin de recaudar fondos:
El asado – El asado es la función más importante del año. Tiene lugar el domingo más próximo al 18 de julio, día de la Jura de la Constitución en el Uruguay. Este concurrido evento generalmente se lleva a cabo en jardines gentilmente ofrecidos por distintos socios que viven en los alrededores de Londres.
El concierto de Catherington – Este concierto tiene lugar en primavera, por gentil invitación de Stephen y Julia Harwood, en los maravillosos jardines de su casa cerca de Petersfield. Para este evento la Sociedad generalmente cuenta con la presencia de excelentes solistas del Royal College of Music.
La fiesta de Navidad y asamblea anual – La fiesta de Navidad suele realizarse en Canning House, en el centro de Londres. Esta reunión, precedida por la asamblea general de la Sociedad, ofrece una oportunidad para que nuestros socios se conozcan e interactúen al tiempo que disfrutan de deliciosos vinos y entremeses.
